Effect of adding thiamine and ascorbic acid on growth and yield of Nigella sativa L.

Abstract

The experiment was conducted in the fields of Al-Musaib Technical College during the winter season of 2019-2020. The experiment was applied according to the arrangement of the split plots and the treatments were distributed using the randomized complete block design (RCBD) in three replicates, the planting dates represented 25/10 - 10/11 - 25/11 Main plots Subplots included the concentrations of thiamine, ascorbic acid (100 ppm and 200 ppm) and ascorbic acid (50 ppm and 100 ppm), and the control treatment was sprayed with distilled water only. The results of the statistical analysis of the data showed: 1. The first date excelled in the number of capsules/plant, the weight of 1000 seeds, the yield of the plant in g and the yield of seeds kg/ha, while the second date excelled in the number of seeds/capsule. 2. The concentration of 200ppm of thiamine gave a significant superiority in traits of the number of seeds/capsule, while the concentration of 100ppm of thiamine was significantly excelled in traits of the number of capsule/plant, the weight of 1000 seeds, seed yield/plant.gm and seed yield kg/ha. 3. The concentration of 100ppm of ascorbic acid gave a significant superiority in the number of seeds/capsule, while the concentration of 50ppm of thiamine significantly excelled in the characteristics of the number of capsule /plant, weight of 1000 seeds, plant yield and total seed yield. 4. As for the interaction between dates and concentrations, the first date with the second concentration of thiamine 200ppm excelled in the number of seeds/pack. The first date with a concentration of 100ppm was excelled in the trait of number of capsule/plant, weight of 1000 seeds, seed yield/plant, seed yield kg/ha. 5. The interaction between dates and concentrations, the first date with the concentration of ascorbic acid 100ppm excelled in the number of seeds/capsule. The first date with a concentration of 50ppm excelled in the traits of number of capsule/plant, weight of 1000 seeds, and seed yield kg/ha.
