Rajyoga meditation is easy and scientific method to elicit physical and mental relaxation responses. Objective: To evaluate & compare the effect of Rajyoga meditation on fasting plasma glucose (FPG) level. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 50 subjects practicing Rajyoga meditation since more than 6 months and 50 age-matched control subjects not practicing Rajyoga meditation. Fasting blood glucose level was measured on semi-automated analyzer. Data collected was analyzed statistically. Results: It was found that fasting plasma glucose was significantly lower (p < 0.0001) in meditators group (76.12±14.54 mg/dL) as compared to non-meditators (92.82±19.43 mg/dL). Conclusions: Rajyoga meditation is effective in reducing the fasting plasma glucose levels thereby decreasing the risk of diabetes mellitus in normal healthy individuals.
