Recent Advancement in Optical Soliton Based Communication System
Abhijit Sinha
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to provide readers with an overview of the historical development of
optical solitons and their applications in optical communication systems. The nonlinear
Schrödinger equation is employed to explain the role of self-phase modulation, a key
nonlinear effect responsible for the formation of optical solitons in fibres operating under
anomalous dispersion
Keywords
Group-velocity dispersion (GVD), self-phase modulation (SPM), cross-phase modulation (XPM), wave-length division multiplexing (WDM).
