Mitigating Cloud Security Threats Through a Structured Framework for Policy Development and Enforcement

Abstract
Cloud computing represents a major shift in how organizations access and manage computing resources through distributed networks. As a continuation of IT infrastructure development, it supports on-demand services that are scalable and flexible. Its cost-efficient model, combined with global accessibility and dynamic resource provisioning, makes it a core enabler of digital transformation. Businesses increasingly rely on cloud platforms to store, process, and analyze data due to their efficiency and convenience. Despite its advantages, the migration to cloud environments introduces critical security concerns that must be addressed. Persistent threats such as unauthorized access, data breaches, and system vulnerabilities hinder full trust in cloud adoption. Existing security protocols often fall short in mitigating evolving threats in complex cloud ecosystems. This research investigates current vulnerabilities in cloud computing with a focus on identifying gaps in security mechanisms. It introduces a Cloud Security Policy (CSP) framework tailored to improve confidentiality, integrity, and access controls in cloud systems. The proposed framework integrates best practices, compliance standards, and adaptive countermeasures for threat detection. It also highlights the importance of continuous security audits and policy enforcement in sustaining cloud resilience. By synthesizing recent findings and trends in cloud security, this study aims to inform developers, administrators, and stakeholders on building fortified cloud infrastructures. The outcome ensures greater reliability and trust in cloud-dependent environments.
