Evaluating The Effectiveness Of Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Versus Open Cholecystectomy In Reducing Post-Operative Complications
Dr Manju M, Dr Balakrishna M A
Abstract
In this study, laparoscopic vs. open cholecystectomy is compared relative to its ability to reduce the post-operative complications. This is a secondary data study which used data retrieved from peer review papers that were published till the year 2020. Using these data, a comparative analysis is conducted for it with the parameters being infection rates, recovery time, duration of hospital stay and re-operation rates. Consistently, these findings show that laparoscopic cholecystectomy has superior clinical benefits including lower rates of wound infection, more rapid recovery, shorter hospital stay and either similar or lower re-operation rates. Also, however open cholecystectomy still is an option in complex or that chronic cases where laparoscopic to be unsafe due. The complexity of the treatment after surgery is very dependent on patient condition and the surgeon’s instructional ability and truly underscores the need for individualized treatment decisions. The findings support the idea that laparoscopic techniques should be used routinely for patients who are eligible for the techniques and further randomized controlled trials, long term outcome follow up and quality of life research are needed. For optimal patient care, there must be advancement in surgical training and technology.
