Correlation of Liver Elastography with Esophageal Varices and Its Comparison with Platelet Count, Liver Function Tests, Ultrasound Abdomen, and Child-Pugh Score in Patients with Chronic Liver Disease

Abstract
Chronic liver disease is often complicated by portal hypertension, leading to the development of EV (Esophageal Varices), which carry a high risk of bleeding and mortality. Upper GI endoscopy remains the gold standard for detecting EVs, but it is invasive and costly. Non-invasive alternatives such as LSM (Liver Stiffness Measurement) using elastography and various clinical and laboratory parameters have been explored for risk stratification. This study aims to evaluate the correlation of liver elastography with esophageal varices and compare its diagnostic utility with platelet count, liver function tests, ultrasound findings, and Child-Pugh score.
