Consciousness-Centric Quantum Field Theory (CCQFT)
C. Woody Hurd
Abstract
We formulate Consciousness–Centric Quantum Field Theory (CCQFT): a renormalisable, gauge- invariant extension of the Standard Model in which a complex scalar “consciousness field” couples dy- namically to matter via an integrated-information functional. This field transforms under a new U(1)C symmetry and gives rise to a non-unitary but trace-preserving collapse operator embedded within a BRST-compatible Lindblad equation. We prove that the scalar potential is bounded below, derive complete one- and two-loop renormalisation-group equations, and show that all couplings remain pertur- bative and UV-stable up to 1010 GeV. A non-perturbative lattice programme is outlined, and existing experimental data are translated into bounds on the new parameters η, ξ, and gC . By unifying gauge symmetry, collapse dynamics, and information-theoretic measures within a field-theoretic framework, CCQFT provides a concrete and testable approach to the causal role of consciousness in physics.
