Abstract
Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate and compare cyclic fatigue resistance of WaveOne Gold and Reciproc Blue nickel-titanium based reciprocating systems in simulated canals with single and double curvatures. Methods and Materials: Two groups of 20 NiTi endodontic instruments were selected for the study. Cyclic fatigue resistance was compared between groups by determining the time to fracture and the number of cycles to failure in a cyclic fatigue testing device with two different curvatures. The time to fracture was recorded in seconds. Statistical Analysis Used: The data were analyzed using the Unpaired t test (P˂0.05). Results: Results revealed that Reciproc Blue instruments were associated with a significantly higher mean time to fracture and number of cycles to failure as compared to WaveOne Gold instruments for both single and double curvature. Conclusion: Cyclic fatigue resistance of Reciproc Blue instruments were higher comparable to WaveOne Gold instruments in both simulated canals with single and double curvatures.
