Comparison of Sevoflurane and Propofol for Attenuation of Hemodynamic Response to Endotracheal Intubation in Geriatric Patients: A Randomized Clinical Study

Abstract
Background
Laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation are associated with marked sympathetic stimulation
resulting in tachycardia and hypertension. These transient hemodynamic alterations may be
poorly tolerated in geriatric patients due to age-related cardiovascular changes and reduced
physiological reserve. Propofol and sevoflurane are commonly used anesthetic agents with
favorable cardiovascular profiles; however, their comparative efficacy in elderly patients
remains a subject of clinical interest.
