Reza Arzhang Abbasi*, Amirreza Arzhang Abbasi
Abstract
Objective and background: Exercise training plays a fundamental role in the prevention and treatment of disorders such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Myokines, including adipomyokines produced by skeletal muscles or adipose tissue, are affected by acute or chronic exercise. The present study was conducted with the aim of comparative study of the effect of three parallel training methods on serum myonectin levels and lipid profile in obese women. Materials and methods: The present research method was semi-experimental (pre-test - post-test) with control and experimental groups, and the statistical population of the present study consisted of obese women participating in sports clubs in Kerman city. After measuring BMI (body mass index), 40 people with BMI ≥35 were selected as the statistical sample of the study and selected using the available sampling method. The subjects were then randomly divided into three resistance training groups (10 people), endurance training group (10 people), combined training group (10 people), and control group (10 people). The training programs were carried out for 8 weeks from simple to difficult exercises and from low to high intensity, taking into account the principle of overload and increasing the intensity of training in the health and wellness gym in Kerman city. Finally, after 8 weeks and immediately after the last training session, myonectin was measured using the ELIZA KIT made in China and by the ELISA method, and serum HDL levels were measured by enzymatic measurement of cholesterol using the HDL-C quantitative detection kit made by Pars Azmoun Company. Results: The findings of this study showed that eight weeks of endurance training and strength training did not have a significant effect on the incidence of serum myonectin in obese women (P<0.05). While eight weeks of combined training had a significant effect on the incidence of serum myonectin in obese women (P<0.05). The findings of the current study showed that endurance training, eight weeks of strength and combined training had a significant effect on the lipid profile of obese women (P<0.05). The present study also showed that there was no significant effect between the three methods of endurance training, strength and combined training on the incidence of serum myonectin in obese women (P<0.05). While there was a significant effect between the three methods of endurance training, strength and combined training on the lipid profile of obese women (P<0.05). Discussion and Conclusion: The present study shows that a short-term eight-week combined training regimen in obese women significantly increased serum myonectin levels and eight weeks of combined training did not have a significant effect on the incidence of serum myonectin in obese women. The findings of the current study showed that endurance training, eight weeks of strength and combined training are associated with an increase in lipid profile. As a result, it seems that the implementation of training programs for obese women is recommended.
