Clinicodemographic Profile and Visual Outcomes in Traumatic Optic Neuropathy: A Prospective Study at a Tertiary Care Center

Abstract

Aim To determine the clinodemographic characteristics, etiological patterns, and visual recovery in patients diagnosed with traumatic optic neuropathy (TON). Methods This is prospective observational study. It included 100 patients presenting with traumatic optic neuropathy at a tertiary care center. Detailed clinodemographic data and etiology of trauma were documented. Baseline visual acuity was recorded by the Snellen chart. Management protocols included systemic corticosteroids (60%), conservative observation (20%), and neurosurgical referral (20%). Visual outcomes were evaluated over three scheduled follow-up visits.
