CLINICAL PATTERNS OF TONSILLITIS AND INDICATIONS FOR TONSILLECTOMY AMONG CHILDREN IN A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL IN BIHAR: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY

Abstract
Background: Tonsillitis is a common pediatric condition contributing significantly to outpatient
visits and surgical interventions worldwide. Recurrent and chronic forms of tonsillitis often
necessitate tonsillectomy, but variations in clinical patterns and surgical indications exist, particularly
in developing countries.
Objectives: To assess the pattern of tonsillitis and evaluate the indications for tonsillectomy among
children attending a tertiary care hospital in Bihar.
