Abstract
Background: Ferritin is an intracellular iron storage protein that also functions as an acute-phase
reactant. Elevated serum ferritin levels have been reported in various inflammatory disorders and may
reflect the degree of systemic inflammatory activity. However, data regarding serum ferritin levels in
heterogeneous inflammatory conditions from North Indian tertiary care settings remain limited.
