ASSESSMENT OF OXIDATIVE STRESS MARKERS AND THEIR ASSOCIATION WITH RENAL FUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE: A HOSPITAL BASED CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY FROM NORTH INDIA
Dr. Abhilasa, Dr. Alok Kumar
Abstract
Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive disorder characterized by irreversible
loss of renal function and is associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. Increasing evidence
suggests that oxidative stress plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis and progression of CKD.
Imbalance between reactive oxygen species production and antioxidant defense mechanisms
contributes to renal injury, inflammation, and cardiovascular complications. Evaluation of oxidative
stress biomarkers may provide valuable insights into disease severity and progression.
Objectives: To assess oxidative stress markers in patients with chronic kidney disease and to
determine their association with renal function parameters.
Keywords
Chronic kidney disease; Oxidative stress; Malondialdehyde; Superoxide dismutase; Reduced glutathione; Renal function; Chronic renal failure
