GREEN SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF IRON OXIDE NANOPARTICLES USING CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRACT

Abstract

The synthesis of Nanoparticles is an expanding area due to the ability of various applications for the development of novel technologies. An increasing commercial demand and due to their wide range of applicability in various fields such as catalysis ,energy chemistry and medicine.Nanotechnology is too developed rapidly and reliable experimental protocol for the synthesis of Nanoparticle over a range of chemical composition that must be non-toxic, eco-friendly,by using biological resource. The study was carried out the simple biological synthesis of FeNPs by the reaction of ferric chloride solution with freshly or dried leaf extract of Centellaasiatica as a bio reductant at room temperature. The phyto molecules present in the leaf extract acts as a capping and stabilizing agents for iron nanoparticles. They are characterized by using spectroscopy techniques like UV-Visible spectroscopy, infra-red spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A fixed ratio of plant extract to metal ion was prepared and the color change was observed which proved the formation of iron oxide nanoparticles. These nanoparticles has been characterized by physical color changes, UV-Vis spectroscopy, infra-red spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The UV-Vis spectra showed a peak at ….nm. SEM revealved that the synthesized iron nanoparticles are spherical and circular in morphology and the overall size is …nm.
